Carl and Shelley Lofberg are the owners and operators of five Arby’s® and two Papa John’s Pizza® restaurants in
northern New York.
Shelley graduated from the College of New Rochelle in 1977 with a degree in Political Science and Business
Administration.
She has worked in many different fields including management, at Northeast Apparel, and various
positions in purchasing and
distribution.
Carl graduated from SUNY Maritime College with a degree in Business Administration and Marine Transportation
in 1976 and
from Babson College, in 1983, with a Master’s in Business Administration. Carl has worked as
Chief Mate/Second Mate,
for the Exxon Corporation, managing shipboard operations, personnel, and inventory
on crude oil and specialty tankers.
Carl and Shelley Lofberg opened their first Arby’s® restaurant on Arsenal Street, in Watertown,
New York, in 1985.
The company soon expanded to include stores in: Potsdam in January 1988, Lowville in
October 1988, Massena in August 1990,
and Evans Mills in July 1999. They then ventured into the pizza business
when they opened Papa John’s® in Evans Mills
in July 2007 and Watertown in December 2008.
Carl and Shelley have two sons, Schuyler and Garth, now attending college themselves. The Lofbergs reside
on Wellesley Island
in northern New York.
